Stray review
Stray is a new 3D platformer from BlueTwelve Studio. The game was released on May 28th, 2020 and is currently available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Stray is a unique take on the 3D platformer genre, with beautiful hand-drawn graphics and a focus on exploration and discovery. The game takes place in a vast open world, and tasks you with uncovering the mysteries of the world and discovering the truth about what happened to the lost city of Eleusis.
Graphics
The graphics in Stray are absolutely gorgeous. The game world is incredibly detailed and vibrant, and the hand-drawn art style is simply beautiful. The animations are also top-notch, and the overall visual presentation is one of the best I've seen in a 3D platformer.
Gameplay
The gameplay in Stray is a perfect blend of exploration and platforming. The game is designed in such a way that encourages you to take your time and explore the world, and the platforming sections are well-crafted and challenging without being frustrating. The game also features a unique "grappling hook" mechanic that allows you to traverse the world in interesting new ways.
Multiplayer
The multiplayer in Stray is unfortunately somewhat limited. The game features a co-operative mode that allows you to play through the game with a friend, but there is no competitive multiplayer. This is a bit of a shame, as the game's world is so large and varied that it would be great to be able to explore it with friends.
Replayability
The replayability in Stray is sky-high. The game features a New Game+ mode that allows you to replay the game with all of your upgrades and abilities intact, and there are also a number of different collectibles to collect. There's also a good amount of post-game content, including a number of challenging side-quests.
Conclusion
Stray is a beautiful and unique 3D platformer that offers a perfect blend of exploration and platforming gameplay. The game's large and varied world is a joy to explore, and the game features a wealth of collectibles and secrets to discover. The multiplayer is somewhat limited, but the game more than makes up for it with its high replayability.
Pros:
- Beautiful hand-drawn graphics
- Massive and varied open world
- Excellent platforming gameplay
