Instagram has long been working on integrating Reels on the platform, and right now, the new feature is in testing, which will implement videos into the said format. Only some selected users can access the update, and there are no details as to when the newest version will be released worldwide.
Meta spokesperson stated that Instagram wants to create a comfortable platform that will simplify the means of watching videos on the app. There are screenshots that showcase the potential design of the Reels in the future. Developers on Twitter shared a glimpse of a feature claiming that users will see a pop-up message describing the new function as a tool to share and enhance your videos with additional music and effects.
In addition, if you have an open account, the sound from your Reels could be possibly used in videos of other people, much like TikTok if you think about it. Furthermore, there will be a remix option so you can create your own original version of the selected video. Of course, you will be given a choice to turn off any remixes for your Reels, so no one uses your content.
It is yet unknown how existing videos on the platform will be transferred to Reels. So far, we can only look at the promotional material and hope the test will go successfully. The release date worldwide is yet to be set, but we can always keep an eye out for potential developers’ screenshots.
Even though the primary use of Instagram is for sharing photos, videos will become a vital part of the app still. There will be more updates that will try slowly integrate the new design of the platform, but of course, sharing your experience with others through art will also stay a central point of the app.
Do you think it is a good idea to turn videos into Reels? What features do you expect to see on the platform? Please, share your opinion with us in the comments below.
