For The First Time In Ten Years, An EA Football Game Did Not Top The Uk's Annual Best-selling Boxed Title List

If you've ever questioned the British love for football, just look at their biggest physical gaming title every year for the past ten years - it's always been a FIFA game. However, changes to the EA Sports FC name resulted in this football game being dethroned as the top-selling boxed game in the UK within a year.

According to Gamesindustry.biz, Hogwarts Legacy was 2023's best-selling physical title in the UK, successfully fending off EA Sports FC 24, which had impressive sales after its late September release. The last time an EA football game didn't secure this spot was in 2013, when Grand Theft Auto V took over.

Over half of Hogwarts Legacy's boxed sales were for PS5, followed by PS4 and Nintendo Switch (which only launched on this platform in November). Evidently, Xbox players purchased fewer physical copies of the game.
